Warrior Spirit Health and Wellness recently had the honor of delivering our Behind the Tape training to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, alongside members of neighboring agencies in the Tarpon Springs, Florida area.

Behind the Tape is designed to create space for honest and meaningful conversations about the emotional impact of first responder work. The training focuses on cumulative stress, trauma exposure, and practical tools sworn active and retired officers as well as civilian staff can use to better understand their own reactions and support each other in healthy, sustainable ways.
This session brought together command staff, sworn personnel, specialty units, and civilian employees from diverse backgrounds. The engagement across all levels of the department reinforced an important message, wellness is not limited to one role or rank, it is a shared responsibility throughout the organization.
Founder and President, Richard Best, had this to say, “What stood out most was the willingness of participants to lean into the conversation. When leadership supports these discussions and agencies intentionally prioritize mental health, it helps reduce the stigma and strengthens the overall culture of the department.”
Warrior Spirit Health and Wellness is grateful to the Tarpon Springs Police Department for their openness, professionalism, and commitment to officer wellness. We look forward to continuing this work with agencies that recognize mental health as mission critical and not just an option or afterthought.
Agencies interested in hosting a Behind the Tape training or learning more about our programs are encouraged to connect with us by phone, email, or online at wshw.org.
